ConnectWise Custom Menu Item for DeskDirector Tech Portal

Configuring Custom Menu Item

  1. As a ConnectWise Administrator, load into System > Setup Tables > Custom Menu Entry
  2. Add a new menu item using the + symbol:
  3. Complete the following configuration:
    1. Menu Caption: The name of the menu item as it will appear in ConnectWise
    2. Menu Location: The ConnectWise menu this item will be available under, most commonly Service Desk
    3. Link: Your DeskDirector instance URL, with a /tech suffix. Example: https://company.deskdirector.com/tech
    4. Open in New Window: Disable this flag
    5. Locations: Include all relevant locations for Members who require access to this menu item
  4. After saving, refresh your browser and locate the recently created custom menu item:
  5. If the connection is refused, you must adjust the Security settings of your DeskDirector instance to allow frame ancestors within your ConnectWise instance:
  6. Within the Admin Portal, under System > Security > Content Security Policy > TECH Portal, I've allowed my ConnectWise URL under the Frame Ancestor section
  7. After this update, the Tech Portal displays as expected within my ConnectWise Custom Menu Item:
